Do you hear those sleigh bells ringing? Today, Wham! and Mariah Carey also make Official Charts history, marking the earliest-ever entry for Christmas hits in the Official Singles Chart.
Proving that it's never too early to stick the festive classics on, Last Christmas by Wham! re-enters the Singles Chart at Number 37, while Mariah's All I Want For Christmas For You re-appears at Number 40.
This breaks a record for the earliest appearance of a Christmas song in the charts, first set last year by Mariah herself, when All I Want For Christmas Is You re-entered the Official Singles Chart in the third week of November.
Now Christmas is here...there's no going back. Both Last Christmas and All I Want For Christmas Is You are, of course, former Number 1 hits – that both took decades to climb to the top of the charts initially, but have experienced massive success in the last few years – both songs hit Number 1 again last year, with Last Christmas actually being the last Number 1 of 2022 to boot.
One thing that has evaded both acts so far, though, is the coveted Official Christmas Number 1. Could 2023 finally be their year...?
